La Trappe Quadrupel Oak Aged Batch 16 2014 - 37.5 CL

BATCH 16 (blended in March 2014) was divided as follows: Type BATCH Brandy 37% Oloroso 27% New Oak Medium Toast 12% New Oak High Toast 12% Late Burgundy 12% This Quadrupel Oak Aged has a deep bronze color with an amber color on top foam head. The aroma is determined by mixed wood and honey notes. These are followed by wine-like flavors with a lingering port or sherry-like scent. The taste is quite smooth and full. For a Quadrupel, this batch is quite dry and well rounded due to a long maturation period in oak or acacia barrels. A maturation period of two years is sufficient, even if the full flavor of this batch, if stored properly, guarantees a few years of enjoyment. In addition to the effects of red wine and cognac barrels, this Oak Aged also underwent Oloroso influences. The hop flavor has almost disappeared, but wood and wine tannins have left a pleasant bitter taste.
